A story about working remotely in marketing, from the Philippines
What does it actually look like to build a career in international iGaming marketing while staying close to home?
For Melvin, it starts at home in the Philippines, logging in, connecting with teammates across different countries, and jumping into a day that never really looks the same twice.
He joined as a Sales Retention Analyst, focusing on player engagement. Pretty quickly, though, things expanded. Campaigns, win-backs, personalized messages, different types of players, different markets… a bit of everything. And that’s kind of the point.
“One day you're analyzing player behavior… the next you're reconnecting with someone and turning that into a positive experience.”
Some days are more data-heavy: looking at patterns, timing, trying to understand why players behave the way they do. Other days are more human: reaching out, writing messages, figuring out how to make interactions feel real, and not scripted. That mix is what makes the work interesting. It’s not just numbers, and it’s not just communication. It’s both.
Over time, what changed most for Melvin wasn’t just the role: it was the feeling of ownership.
“It didn’t feel like I was just doing tasks… I felt like I was helping shape the results.”
Ideas aren’t something you keep to yourself in Ludicrum. If something can be done better, you say it. You try it. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t, but you’re part of the process.
And then there’s the part that’s harder to explain on paper: working remotely.
It means being part of a global team, while still being at home. It means building a career without having to leave your life behind. For Melvin, that part is simple:
“I’m a father of four… time with my family is the best part.”
No commute. Just work, life, and trying to balance both in a way that actually makes sense.
And maybe that’s why this kind of setup works so well for a lot of people in Southeast Asia.
At the end of the conversation, we asked Melvin what he’d say to someone thinking about a similar path. He kept it simple:
“Be curious. Be proactive. Don’t be afraid to share ideas… and be authentic.”
That last part stuck. Because a lot of this job, whether it’s campaigns, messages, or conversations, comes down to that. Not sounding like a script. Not trying too hard. Just being real.
This is just one story. There are plenty more, all a bit different.
But if you’re somewhere in Southeast Asia, working in marketing, and this sounds a bit like the kind of work you enjoy, we’re always open to meeting people.
